冼都斯里吉兰丹人民组屋B座于圣诞节当天遭火神光顾，烧毁了1单位，一户印裔家庭丧失家园。
峇都区民政党服务中心协调员刘华才博士于当天第一时间前往巡视火灾现场和慰问受影响的居民，并提供一些必需品和援助金以协助居民。
刘华才博士指出，所幸屋主一家当天出门到教堂参加圣诞礼拜，才没导致任何伤亡事件，但却烧毁了屋内所有的物品，以及屋主饲养的两只猫被烧死。由于当天是公共假期，因此福利部无法及时安排到援助。不过在民政峇都区部的安排下，目前所有灾黎已被安顿在该组屋区的社区人民礼堂，并为受影响的居民提供每日三餐。
"火灾也导致隔壁的组屋单位停电，我们也即时安排了国能的工作人员来进行维修，并恢复电流供应。根据与居民了解，当天火患发生时，消防队竟然找不到水源来救火，而需要到较远的地方取水源。而在组屋居民们的同心协助下，才成功扑灭火势。对此，我们促请政府关注组屋的防火系统和设施，确保类似事件不再发生。"
另外，民政峇都区部也将尽快协助这些灾民申请政府人民组屋，并且跟进及加速申请程序，让他们重获新的住所。
刘华才博士也补充，民政党将持续服务峇都国会选区的居民，并解决他们的民生问题和提高他们的生活素质

There was a fire broke out in the B block of Seri Kelantan PPR flat in Sentul that destroyed a flat unit, an Indian family lost their home.
Batu Gerakan Service Centre Coordinator Dr. Dominic Lau Hoe Chai immediately rushed to inspect the fire scene and comforted the affected residents as well as to offer some necessities and relief funds to help the residents.
Dr. Dominic Lau pointed out that fortunately the owner of the house and her family were out to the church to take part in the Christmas prayer session and thus it did not cause any deaths or injuries, however the fire destroyed all the house items and also killed her two cats. Since that day was a public holiday, the Welfare Department was unable to arrange for help in time. However, under the arrangement by Gerakan Batu Division, the fire victims have now been placed in the community hall of the flat area and they are supplied with 3 meals per day.
"The fire also caused the flat unit next door to have their electricity cut off, we immediately arranged workers form TNB to fix it and restore the electrical supply. We were also informed by the residents that during the fire, the firemen failed to locate the water supply to put out the fire, they have to go farther to get the water supply. While under the all-out effort from all of the residents of the flat, the fire was successfully put out. In this regard, we urge the government to pay more attention to the fire protection system and facilities of the flats to ensure that similar incidents will not be repeated again."
Besides, Gerakan Batu Division will also try to help these fire victims to apply for PPR flat and follow-up as well as to expedite the application process, so that they could regain a new residence.
Dr. Dominic Lau added that Gerakan would continue to serve the residents of Batu parliamentary constituency, solve their livelihood problems and improve their quality of life.
